Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your color analysis experience—from how to prepare to what you’ll walk away with.
The Experience
-
Most in-person color analysis sessions last about 75–90 minutes. Group sessions range from 2-4 hours depending on group size.
-
Your session is a guided, step-by-step process where we determine your undertone, identify your season, and refine your results into your exact palette using a professional 23-palette system.
You will see how different colors interact with your features in real time, which makes the results clear and easy to understand.
-
All color analysis sessions are conducted in person to ensure the most accurate results using professional draping and lighting.
Preparation
-
Arrive makeup-free and avoid self-tanner, tinted moisturizer, or products with color, as these can interfere with accurately assessing your undertone.
-
Yes, but it will need to be removed at the beginning of your session for accuracy. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early if you will be removing makeup on-site.
-
Yes, you are welcome to bring up to three guests to observe your session.
To keep the environment calm and focused, I do ask that guests are adults only.

Accuracy & Expertise
Why accuracy matters
Color analysis is a visual process. Seeing how color interacts with your skin in real time allows for a level of precision that cannot be replicated through photos or screens.
-
In-person analysis allows us to see how color interacts with your skin in real time using consistent lighting and professional draping.
Subtle differences in undertone, brightness, and contrast are much easier to evaluate live, which leads to more precise and reliable results.
Digital photos can vary significantly depending on lighting, camera settings, and screen displays. These factors can shift how colors appear, making it difficult to accurately assess undertones and overall color harmony from an image alone.
-
Online tools and AI can be helpful for general education, but they rely on photos, lighting conditions, and screen accuracy, which can vary significantly.
Color analysis is highly visual and depends on how your skin responds to color in real life. In-person analysis uses controlled lighting and live draping to compare colors directly against your face, allowing for a level of precision that digital tools cannot fully replicate.
-
My approach is designed to be both precise and personalized.
While some color analysis systems group individuals into broader seasonal categories, I use an advanced 23-palette system that allows for a more refined result.
During your session, we go through a structured, in-person process to determine your undertone, identify your season, and refine your palette based on how your features respond to color in real time.
This allows for a level of precision that goes beyond broader seasonal groupings.
The goal is clarity you can actually use, so getting dressed, shopping, and choosing makeup all feel easier and more aligned with you.
Other Common Questions
-
Many clients consider this one of the most valuable investments they have made in their personal style. It removes guesswork and provides a clear foundation for everything you wear, from clothing to makeup to hair color and accessories.
With that clarity, getting dressed becomes easier, shopping becomes more intentional, and your overall look feels more cohesive and aligned.
-
Your natural coloring remains largely consistent, so your palette will stay the same.
For children and teens, their coloring can continue to develop, so slight changes may occur as they move into early adulthood. In those cases, a future refinement may be helpful.
For most adults, however, your palette will remain stable, with only small adjustments influenced by factors like hair color or personal style preferences.
-
This is very common. Many people are incorrectly matched, especially those with olive or neutral undertones. The in-person process helps remove that confusion and provides clarity.
-
Yes. Olive undertones can be more nuanced, and part of this process is identifying those subtleties to ensure your palette truly reflects your natural coloring.
