About Me
Helping you discover the colors that bring you to life!
I’m Janell Armstrong, founder and CEO of Color Me in Seasons.
My love of fashion started early.
As a teenager, I began modeling and quickly fell in love with the entire world around it — the clothes, the hair, the makeup, and the creativity of transforming a look.
(And yes… I will fully admit I loved big 80’s hair.)
Modeling taught me a lot about fashion, but it also revealed something I didn’t fully understand at the time.
Stylists would dress you in whatever colors the shoot required. No one was thinking about whether those colors actually worked with your natural coloring.
And sometimes, when I saw the photos, I would think:
Why doesn’t this look quite right on me?
The clothes were beautiful… but something always felt slightly off.
My Story
Later, fashion became something different.
When my children were young and we were living paycheck to paycheck, I still found a way to make fashion work for our family.
I became very intentional. I learned how to dress well on a budget — how to find pieces that looked polished and put-together without spending much. I could dress myself and my children beautifully, even when money was tight.
But there was always one challenge I couldn’t quite solve.
Color.
When Fashion Became Practical
I have cool olive skin, and for years, it made everything more confusing.
At makeup counters and in stores, I was almost always told I had warm undertones. So I was matched with warm foundations, warm lipsticks, and warm color palettes.
Every time.
And every time, something felt off.
An orange line along my jaw.
Lipsticks that turned ruddy or overly warm.
Clothes that looked beautiful on the hanger, but didn’t feel right once I wore them.
I couldn’t explain it, I just knew something wasn’t working.
Why Color Was So Confusing
Then I discovered professional color analysis.
When I finally learned my true undertone, everything started to make sense.
It was one of those moments where things just clicked.
I became fascinated by how powerful color harmony really is and how the right colors can completely change the way you look and feel.
I slowly began rebuilding my wardrobe with intention, choosing colors that worked with my natural coloring instead of against it.
One of the biggest surprises?
My closet had been full of black.
Most people assume black works for everyone, but for many people, especially as we get older, it can actually feel too harsh. Even something as simple as eyeliner can overpower your features when it isn’t in harmony with your natural palette.
When your colors are right, everything changes.
Your skin looks healthier.
Your eyes appear brighter.
Your makeup blends more naturally.
Getting dressed becomes easier.
The Moment Everything Clicked
Today, helping people discover their colors is something I truly care about.
As a Master-Trained Professional Color Analyst, I guide clients through a personalized process to uncover the colors that naturally harmonize with their skin tone, hair, and eyes.
There is nothing quite like the moment when someone sees themselves in the right colors for the first time.
Their skin lights up.
Their eyes become more vibrant.
Their entire presence shifts.
It’s subtle, but it’s powerful.
Helping someone experience that — and step into a more confident, aligned version of themselves — is something I never take for granted.
It’s an honor to be part of that process.
I would love to help you discover your colors!
